Outpost 13 launching Twitch channel tomorrow (May 31)

After weeks of testing things out, Outpost 13 will officially launch tomorrow (May 31) with a full day of programming.

Titled May Day, the event kicks off at 11 a.m. PST with Where You At?, which showcases people doing great things for their community. At 12:30 p.m. PST, Photo Alchemy takes over, and host Cory Wyszynski will show off some great phone apps to help enhance your photos. 2 p.m. will bring Buffering, which finds some of the best improv talent conducting a business meeting. Throughout the show, people in the chat can add to the story with their suggestions. At 3:30 p.m. Aliza Pearl, Emily Jacobson, and Matt Pitner will boldly go where no one has gone before during The Ultimate Star Trek Unboxing. At 5 p.m., Erin McGown and MeLissa Luna take over with their podcast Group Text, which offers discussions about how technology is changing out lives.

At 6:30 p.m., Crockpot Cinema finds hosts Matthew Pitner and Kate Enge cooking and delivering some old school cinema. At 8:30 p.m., Ripley Improv’s Madi Goff will take over with The Madi Goff Show with special guest James Kyson (Heroes, Adventure Time). The event concludes at 10 p.m. with Made Up Music, which finds Alex Caan and Arlo Sanders creating a new song with the chat’s suggestions. The finished track will appear on their Bandcamp page.

Five panels to catch at PAX East 2020

Gamers on the East Coast are counting down the minutes until PAX East 2020 opens its doors on Thursday. If you’re heading to the event and need some exciting things to see, we’ve listed five panels that are worth your time.

While Saturday tickets are sold out, there are still Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and four-day tickets available here. More information on PAX East can be found here. The convention will take place inside the Boston Convention and Expo Center in Boston, Massachusetts from February 27 through March 1.

The EZ Baking Challenge: Recipe for Disaster
Thursday, February 27

Remember the old days of using the Easy-Bake Oven? Well, a group of video game industry personalities (Pat Baer, Trin Garritano, Kate Gray, and David Galindo) will find themselves reliving their childhood during the biggest competition of PAX East. These individuals will be baking goods while dealing with random obstacles. Their finished creation will be eaten by judges, who will declare one person the winner. Finji's Harris Foster and Rebekah Saltsman will co-host the event.

Design a Board Game Live
Thursday, February 27

Condor Theatre

If you've always been interesting in creating the next big board game, this panel is for you. The design team of Lynnvander Studios (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Star Trek Alliance) will give attendees the scoop on how they made their popular games. Afterwards, you'll create a game from scratch. Later this year, Lynnvander Studios will release Divinity Original Sin: The Board Game, which gained $1.8 million through a successful Kickstarter campaign.

Sometimes, a video game can be a perfect 10 despite harsh criticism. Evolve PR's social media manager Wout McDutch, Vlambeer co-founder Rami Ismail, Gameranx host Jake Baldino, Powerspike marketing director Reed Albers, and Ripley Improv's Jessica Lynn Verdi will discuss why their favorite games are a 10/10. After they’re done with their pitches, the audience decides if these games are actually among the best of the best.

Marvel and Netmarble have been cooking up a brand new game, and they'll ready to tell fans all about it during their PAX East panel. The two companies first joined forces in the 2015 mobile game Marvel: Future Fight, which has over 70 million players. Marvel: Future Fight’s recent update brought some Secret Empire content to the game.

Impro Theatre's Winterfest 2020 to deliver the best in improv in January

The annual Impro Theatre Winterfest showcases some of the finest improv from Los Angeles and beyond. This year’s event, which takes place from January 6 through January 12, will continue the tradition with a slew of fantastic events.

Some of the shows lined up for this extravaganza include Bobby I'm Lost Presents: Tarantino, Ripley Improv Presents: Encounter, and Home For The Holidays. Aside from shows, a slew of workshops will be available for those looking to perfect their improv craft or simply get into the world. Some workshops include Getting Unstuck and Uncovering the Story with Jo McGinley and a youth workshop with Sara Mountjoy-Pepka and Laurie Jones.

Ripley Improv to hold Alien Encounter: A Halloween Dance Party in downtown Los Angeles

Ripley Improv kicked the week off by announcing their new Encounter show at the Impro Studio. With Halloween coming up, they’re looking to shake things up with a dance party in downtown Los Angeles.

Announced today, Alien Encounter: A Halloween Dance Party combines the typical Halloween goodness with their aforementioned Encounter show. Attendees arriving early can take part of some special mini quests and run into some unique characters.

Tickets for this 21+ event are on sale here. If you’re looking for a bit more excitement, the Close Encounter VIP ticket features some additional perks, including a ticket to a forthcoming Ripley Improv show. The party takes place Halloween night from 8 p.m. to midnight. You can watch a groovy promo clip for the event below.

Tickets for Ripley Improv’s upcoming Encounter run can be purchased at the Impro Theatre website. Encounter takes place every Friday from October 4 through December 6.
